Every November and December, Willamette Week’s Give!Guide brings Portland’s nonprofit community into focus, creating a campaign that encourages thousands of small donations that help sustain the city’s cultural, environmental, and social ecosystems.
For Fonograf Editions, Give!Guide is a crucial opportunity to continue our volunteer-led work bringing experimental literature, sound, and art into the world. As one of the only presses in the country publishing both books and records, we believe in taking risks that bend and break form, keeping art accessible through free community events and online releases. Your support helps us stay true to that mission: keeping art personal, interdisciplinary, and in conversation with the city that sustains it.
Why Give?
- Support through the Give!Guide goes directly toward publishing new work, hosting free public events, and supporting Portland writers and artists. Plus, we’ve collaborated with our local community to offer some pretty cool incentives this year:
- $1,000+ — Rice Place Residency (1 available): A weeklong retreat on the Clackamas River (July 5–12, 2026).$300 — Manuscript Consultation (3 available): A one-hour session with Jaydra Johnson, Jay Ponteri, or Emilly Prado.$250 — Book or Record Packages (2 each): Curated bundles of Fonograf Ed. titles and vinyl.$100 — Small Book Bundle: A surprise selection of small-press gems.$50 — Limited-Edition Broadside: Broadside from the IPRC featuring poetry from Mark Leidner.$25 — Bandcamp Download: Choose from one of our digital sound releases.
- While Give!Guide is a regional campaign, our reach is national, and supporters anywhere can take part. Consultations can be held virtually, and all books and records ship nationwide—every donation, near or far, directly sustains our work. We’re very proud and grateful to be partnering with local institutions like Beacon Sound, De-Canon, Bishop & Wilde, Up Up Books, Buckman Journal, Lost Avenue Books, and the Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC). These organizations are all dedicated to cultivating essential artistic and literary exchanges.
